For Individuals

Are you feeling ‘stuck’ at work – and want to change things?

You are a senior leader and feel something needs to shift. This may be in your relationships at work, your leadership style, how you take up authority, or where you are in your career path. You want something to change so, you can have a more satisfying life in (and outside) work.

I work with successful senior leaders who feel ‘stuck’ – and need space to think things through at a deeper level so they can change things. I offer a safe, challenging and supportive space to explore.

Clients I have coached report that I help them:

  • Understand themselves, their role and their organisation better

  • See problems differently, particularly what might be going on that is less obvious

  • Change their relationships with colleagues

  • Become happier and more effective at work.

The coaching was transformational in a number of ways. It helped me to understand myself on a deeper level, and how I operate within my role and the organisation. This has help me to understand better why I act and feel as I do - and as a result I am more effective and less buffeted by the peaks and troughs of the role

“My coaching experience with Megan was a challenging and hugely rewarding experience. I am much more conscious of myself, what drives me and how I show up as a leader. This has enabled to step back and create space for others – which has changed the dynamic in my leadership team and enabled me to better focus my personal impact. Megan’s style is clear, focussed and she has a great balance of staying both emotionally and intellectually connected. The conversations took me to places I hadn’t fully expected to go to, but they always felt completely safe and I can absolutely see the benefits”

For TEAMS

Could your leadership team be more effective - but needs space to think how?

You lead a senior team that – even if things are going well – you recognise could be even more effective. You may have some new or old challenges to face, or something may have happened that you need to explore. Or you and your team may simply be at a point where it’s time to step back, think things through and plan what next.

I facilitate senior team conversations to help your team get to your next stage, whatever it is, so you can do your work. This can be in one-off awaydays or a more structured development programme.

Leadership teams report that I help them:

  • Have greater and deeper insight into what’s going on in their team

  • See problems differently – less focussed on blaming individuals and more about how the team works together

  • Move on to a different way of working where the team can review their own performance and way of working

  • Become more effective in their tasks.

Megan facilitated a series of top team workshops when I first arrived in the role. I needed some help and support with a team that was drifting in and out of wanting to be a team. Megan brings huge insight into group dynamics and a clear edge to conversations that never feels threatening. Her skills as a facilitator helped us get stuck into some difficult areas. Her intervention, support and advice were pivotal to me. I can’t recommend her highly enough

- Chief Executive, London Council

I found Megan a real joy to work with. She brought a really healthy balance of challenge and support to the way we approached our senior team development. Her insight into group dynamics and her role as a facilitator enabled us all to participate and get stuck into some difficult areas, as well as have fun - all of which will stand us in good stead for future team working.

- Chief Executive, National Charity

Every single day I am using the leadership skills and approaches I learnt in our leadership programme with you. It’s given me confidence to lead conversations and represent my organisation, as well as to own my own vulnerability, and to learn without judgement or shame. It completely shapes how I work with colleagues and staff on their issues, and has really helped me see the wider picture and support others to ‘raise their gaze’.

For ORGANISATIONS

Does your organisation need to understand what’s going on at a deeper level?

You lead an organisation, department or team where you know something isn’t quite working but you are not sure what. This may be historic or new. Something difficult and possibly high profile may have happened (eg with staff, clients, patients or other stakeholders) and you want to get to the bottom of it rather than taking knee-jerk action. There may be some obvious causes or culprits - but your sense is things are a little more complicated and you want to understand more.

Clients are often at a critical point where they need to think straight to act right.

I consult to organisations and teams at this point – helping them diagnose the issues, both visible and less visible - and focus on action that will make a long term difference.

Clients report that we help them:

  • Quickly get to grips with the issues that need to be addressed in the organisation, without jargon

  • Understand complex individual and organisational dynamics in a way that they can make sense of and act on

  • Engage with their own change, decisions, and action

  • Move forward more quickly because effort has gone on the right things.

Megan provided a strong framework to negotiate a complex organisational change, allowing the right amount of space to be flexible and responsive whilst providing confidence that we were working towards a new organisational position. Megan has probably the most attuned emotional radar of anyone I have ever worked with. Able to articulate the feelings of the group and comprehend the impact that has on the behaviour of individuals. It is very impressive. Due to Megan’s emotional antennae we were able to draw a clear line between the past and the future - and deeply appreciate where we had come from in order to progress. Megan was brilliant.

- Chief Executive, Development Consultancy

Megan was a real pleasure to work with. She has great organisational insight and wisdom. She offered thoughtful and respectful challenge, guiding us gently but firmly through some significant changes in the way we work. I’ve really noticed a difference in our conversations and our actions, at the same time exceeding our business targets.
- Chief Executive, Business School

Many thanks to you and Bev for your expertise in helping what was an impossible working environment. The work you did with us felt like a supportive and change making approach to conflict resolution - it was challenging but always felt safe and was ultimately transformative. I can honestly say that I enjoy my job which was something unimaginable a few months ago.

About Aliign

My name is Megan Meredith and I am Director of Aliign. I’ve been working for over 30 years in and with organisations in different sectors. I started in management and leadership roles in public, commercial and third sector organisations and then moved into consultancy and coaching.

Early on I became fascinated by both what makes teams and organisations work ‘on the surface’ and also what might be going on underneath that might frustrate the best leaders’ attempts at change. I founded Aliign to help clients understand what they might bring personally to their leadership roles, the dynamics of the systems in which they work, and how the two combine. Understanding both of these at a deep level means sustainable change.

To work at this deeper level I have completed advanced training in individual, group and organisational psychology and executive coaching at both the Tavistock Clinic Ashridge Executive Education among others. I work alone and with a small group of similarly trained and experienced associates.

Our combination of leadership, consultancy, coaching and psychological experience means we can understand your leadership challenges and then help you quickly get to the heart of things.

Qualifications

I have an MA in History from Cambridge University, an MBA from Ecole Nationale de Chaussees in Paris and a post graduate Diploma in HR from the University of Kingston. I have an MA in Organisational Consultancy (psychodynamic and systemic approaches) from the Tavistock Clinic and am a visiting tutor on this course. I am an accredited coach with the European Mentoring and Coaching Council (Senior Practitioner level), an accredited Analytic Network Coach and a qualified Firo B practitioner.

Experience

I started my career managing NHS community and acute services. I then moved into consultancy in KPMG, and subsequently was a Director at the Audit Commission and one of the first Directors of the Social Investment Business. I then moved permanently into consultancy and coaching. I directed Roffey Park’s Organisational Development Practitioners Programme and Tavistock Consulting’s Senior Practitioner accredited Executive Coaching Programme, where I remain on the faculty. I am a faculty member on the NHS Leadership Academy, a facilitator on the Nye Bevan programme and an associate of Tavistock Consulting, Roffey Park Institute and Impact Consulting.

I am a volunteer coach and mentor with the Cranfield Trust
